Some settings have to be changed to get matlab to work with XCode 4. I found good help here.

MATLAB & Quicktime
I often use MATLAB to make movies of my work but found the movie creation tools in MATLAB in Windows to be less than desireable so I went searching and found this website that has a script for saving movies in Quicktime format within MATLAB.
I also found a program that will allow Quicktime movies to be played within Powerpoint, although it doesn't always work as smoothly as it should, but it's an option nonetheless. The program is called QT4ALL and information can be found here.

MATLAB & MySQL
As is apparent on this website, I really enjoy programming, and as an engineer, I appreciate the convenience of MATLAB for running my calculations. MySQL is also a really excellent database tool which provides convenient storage and access to data. Luckily, someone has written a mex function for MATLAB so MySQL can easily be accessed. The code for doing so is located here.
